Lovers of fresh fish and seafood have beaten a path to The Fish House since we opened at 2035 Sheppard Ave. E. in 1982. It was a Friday, and customers were lined up to the parking lot. The photo at right shows our original street sign, a familiar landmark for our many loyal customers.
We serve up about 2,500 pounds of fresh fish and 1,000 pounds of seafood every week – or about 182,000 pounds a year. Plus we offer a wide range of non-fish dishes, ranging from Chicken & Penne Carbonara to Grilled Canadian “AAA” Top Sirloin Steak, a variety of market-fresh salads and a great selection of irrespirable desserts.
Fish House Founders Ken Baxter and Richard Ulster say the restaurant’s vision has never changed. “Our goal from the start was to offer the best selection of fresh fish and seafood in town,” says Ken Baxter. “We did that from day one and we are still the number one choice for fresh fish and seafood shipped in daily from around the world.”
In August 2007, the restaurant (and Shuckers Seafood Bar) moved to its current 300-seat location, 7501 Woodbine Avenue. We are now bigger than ever. Plus we have a Function Room that can accommodate groups of 25-80.
Every day we attract new customers from Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, North York – and beyond. Thanks to everyone who has sampled The Fish House experience for the first time. And an even bigger thank you to the legions of loyal Fish House customers who continue to make our restaurant a great place to eat, drink and be merry.
